Well
folks... here it is ! One of THE airplane types that won WW II according
to Churchill |
The
Dakota DC-3, or as military version: The C-47 Skytrain ! |
For
every true aviation enthousiast this machine is a dream to see and fly ! |
W |
Some
of the troopers admired it, and others were to tired fter the exhausting
exercises they had |
September
19th Eindhoven Airforce base was one long row of activities... |
British
and American Hercules transport planes kept on rolling over the platform
and runways... |
...
and there were quite some ! |
All
these guys were to jump at the 'Ginkel Heath' such as every year |
All
kind of nation paratroopers took part in this, as these Polish men over
here. |
501
Parachute Infantry Regiment (101 AB) was to jump around Veghel in 1944... |
...
and this kind of actions were repeated over Ginkel as memorial by about a
1000 paratroopers |
Most
important is to check your gear over and over... |
German
paratroopers joined this action as well... |
...
and it's real nice to be part of this huge undertaking ... |
...
all has been well prepared, ths enormous logistic job. |
The
men wait. In specific waves the paratroopers will show the public how it
looked like, 65 yeras ago |
Some
of them don't even know how the dropzone looks like. They don't care,
being specialists |
One
group marches to their Hercules C-130, as another group prepares and is
instructed |
Once
again the Polish here, wearing the 'Red Baret' ! |
Last
year 2008 the departure took place from Soesterberg AFB... |
...
but due to so many UK and USAF large planes this had to be from Eindhoven
in 2009 |
Though
so lon ago, it still is important to show and tell todays people about
this part of history... |
...
let's not forget that 65 years ago many guys like these lost their lives
for our freedom of today ! |
These
USAF giants are based at Ramstein Germany, the 86th Air Wing... |
...
This one here is a Hercules C-130J-30. |
As
far as we were informed there were 4 US C-130, 3 RAF C-130, 1 BAF C-130, 1
Polish Casa... |
...
2 Dakota's and one Mitchell Bomber taking action september
19th. |
A
warnings sign says fire arms can be used in case security makes this
neccessary... |
...
though it all happened relative calm and well organised... |
...
as you can see at this last platform view. |
We
show you the Polish Casa and the Mitchell bomber... |
These
planes mostly were seen in nice pictures and inscriptions. |
Enough
now, lets follow the UK Hercules to page 5 where we show something of LZ
Ginkel |
One
more look at this fine plane, later on more about it in this extended
photo reportage |

us to page 5, the droppings ? |
